CONDE NAST TRAVELLER GERMANY 2026
Conde nast Traveller, Coast to coast SWEDEN
a slow, meandering, FAMILY ROAD TRIP through southern Sweden
500 KM was doable in a day. But no need to rush…
PART 2
SMÖGEN, Klädesholmen AND PARTERNOSTER
Slowly, the land approaches the sea. a narrow bridge leads to the island of Klädesholmen, the herring capital. legend has it that the fish used to crowd the shore in shoals so large, you could scoop them out of the water with your bare hands.
PART 3
LÄCKÖ SLOTT via VILLA SJÖTORP TO GOTHENBURG
perched on a gentle hill is Läckö Castle, a Baroque dream in creamy white, its turrets gracefully curved.
Behind the castle, Lake Vänern, Sweden's largest lake, shimmers, dark and smooth.
Make it stand out.
The March/April issue of @cntravellergermany —this time, it’s a family affair ❤️
a slow, meandering, coast to coast journey through southern Sweden -via Stockholm and Gothenburg—packing in more than we ever imagined though the stunning landscapes, quirky backwaters and the quiet generosity of those we met along the way!
Sharing here some captures of those intimate family moments that so often pass unrecorded—yet become the fondest memories of life’s adventures. There was laughter, the occasional unraveling (and yes…someone did throw up), long days on the road, and longer sleeps at the end of them…. A mix of favourite published images and outtakes: archipelagos, forests, rivers, city adventures, glassy lake swims, sunsets, heavenly seafood, saunas, boats, bugs, animals—you name it, we found it!
Unfiltered fun, watching our little people take courage and grow in confidence (especially when exploring local delicacies😘)—and of learning, somehow, to slow down and enjoy the moments.
The sumptuous polestar 3—our trusty packhorse—effortlessly and silently ate up the miles and made the road a breeze. Memories to last a lifetime.
Travelling with children perhaps not for the faint-hearted—but get it right, and it’s transformative. Couldn’t have done it without you @gerdamare ❤️
a special thank you to my man on the ground @mrlindeberg—for the inspiration, insider knowledge, unforgettable introductions, and moral support when the miles felt a little daunting for both parents and our little explorers.
